Meeting Of US-delegation With High-Ranking Members Of Terrorist Taliban Pt. 2 - 31 July 2023

Amir Khan Muttaqi and Tom West

Since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, for the first time, a 15-person American delegation has talked with the officials of this group for a day; A conversation that has been widely criticized and interpreted as "betrayal of human values" According to the announcement of the Taliban's foreign ministry, a 15-member American delegation led by Tom West, the country's special representative for Afghanistan affairs, will visit Doha, the capital of Qatar, for two days. They will meet with a delegation of the Taliban led by Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban regime. According to the narrative presented by the Taliban's foreign ministry, in this two-day meeting, "building trust between the two sides, taking practical steps in this direction, removing blacklists and lifting sanctions, freeing the reserves of Da Afghanistan Bank, maintaining the economic stability of Afghanistan, and fighting against drugs and human rights issues will be discussed."

The Taliban's foreign ministry said in its announcement that the group "once again emphasized that it is important for confidence building to remove blacklists and bounty and free up bank reserves so that Afghans can build their own economy without foreign aid." The ministry added that "the two sides continued to emphasize the continuation of such meetings, understanding and interaction."

From war to friendship

The first round of Taliban rule ended after the US attack on Afghanistan in 2001 and the group's emirate fell. After that, in the last twenty years, this group carried out deadly attacks in Afghanistan under the pretext of war with America; attacks in which the most of the victims were Afghan citizens, including civilians, women and children. The war tactics of this group were also designed in such a way that they did not refrain from any method to hit the Afghan people, but not the Americans. The major part of the Taliban's policy in the last twenty years has been the "hostage-taking" and "captivity" of civilians, mostly Hazara Shiites, under the pretext of cooperating with the Afghan government, which the Taliban considered a puppet of the United States. In various events, the Taliban group has beheaded Hazaras, including children, on the charge that they support the republican system and the government based on people's votes, study, go to university and want peace in their country.

Many citizens of Afghanistan and the political leaders of this country believe that the Taliban, under the pretext of America's presence in Afghanistan, killed people and brutally massacred the citizens of this country and committed many "crimes against humanity" in the last twenty years. After the "Doha Deal" and the establishment of the ground for the Taliban to regain control of Afghanistan with the cooperation of the United States, the friendship stage of this group has slowly become apparent and it is getting brighter every day. A clear example of this is the two-day meeting in Doha, where it is still unclear what decisions have been made about the fate of the Afghan people. In the last two years, when the stage of friendship between the US and the Taliban is getting brighter, this group has once again put pressure on the Afghan people and deprived them of their human and fundamental rights under the pretext of American values. Although the "secret deal" of the Taliban and the United States continues in Qatar, the legitimacy of the twenty-year war of the Taliban has been lost for everyone, and this group has become the source of the phrase "America's Wagner in the region".

"Paying ransom to the Taliban"

Afghan women's protest movements, at the same time as the Doha meeting between the Taliban and American representatives, interpreted it as "extortion" to this group and "betrayal of human values". The protesting women of Afghanistan say that the Taliban group does not have the ability to cope with the people of Afghanistan and the international community, and interacting with this group is nothing but blackmail.

In their protests, these women have clearly asked the international community to support the people of Afghanistan instead of supporting a "mono-ethnic", "mono-gender" and "terrorist" group and asked to lay the groundwork for establishing a democratic government based on people's votes.

The protesting women of Afghanistan demanded from Qatar, which has hosted the Taliban since 2012 and has kept the group's office open, not to intervene in Afghanistan's affairs for the benefit of the Taliban and not to lobby "to whitewash the international image of this group". Afghan citizens, especially women, demand the overthrow of the Taliban rule over Afghanistan because of "massive human rights violations", "war crimes" and "sheltering more than twenty terrorist groups". They consider the American officials' meeting with the Taliban and their interaction with this group as a "bargaining" over their destiny and condemn it.

Conclusion

Most of the citizens of Afghanistan now consider the Taliban as "puppets" who work in line with the long-term goals of America in the region and advance these goals by taking security, peace, prosperity and comfort from the people of Afghanistan.
