Ahmad Massoud's Visit To Moscow - 29 August 2023

Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, met with Sergey Mironov, the head of the faction 'A Just Russia – For Truth' (SRZP) in the State Duma of Russia in Moscow.

According to the report of 'A Just Russia – For Truth', the two sides discussed the political situation in Afghanistan and its solution during this meeting.

Mironov reaffirmed in this meeting that Russia values and respects the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Afghanistan.

 

He said, "We stick to this position and we believe that the people of Afghanistan should determine their own future." Sergey Mironov added, "We believe that Afghanistan should not become a place for geopolitical aspirations."

 

Ahmad Massoud also informed in this meeting that during the Taliban rule, the political situation in Afghanistan has worsened. He added that terrorist organizations and drug trafficking have spread in the country and people's rights are violated.

 

Ahmad Massoud emphasized that if a people's government is not established in Afghanistan in the current situation, and if there is no fight against drugs and terrorist groups in Afghanistan, Afghanistan could become a time bomb that may explode at any moment.

 

Sergey Mironov supported his official guest on behalf of his party and the Just Russia Party faction in the Russian Duma. Moreover, he announced the holding of a meeting in the State Duma of Russia about the problems of Afghanistan this fall with the presence of Ahmad Massoud.
