Germany becomes new ally of the Taliban

German politicians have found a new scapegoat for their problems, namely Afghan migrants. They use them as a form of election campaign. Whether the far-right AfD and CDU or the ruling Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz as its leader, all of them use the topic of Afghan migrants to mislead Germans and thus win the Bundestag election on 23 February 2025.

But before we are able to elaborate on the motives of those three parties it is necessary to give some background information:

A tragic and sad event happened on 22 January 2025, when a man from Afghanistan attacked a kindergarten group in Aschaffenburg, in Bavaria, Germany. Two people died, including a 2-year-old toddler and a 41-year-old man. At least 2 to 3 other people were wounded in that attack. The 28-year-old attacker turned out to be an Afghan migrant who was mentally ill. He was caught by the police. The investigation and trial are still ongoing.

Although a sad event indeed, these kind of events, in particular knife attacks and ramming people with cars, are happening every few weeks in Germany. Often the perpetrators turn out to have migrant background.

Some examples are:

20 Dec.2024: Saudi man arrested after car attack on German Christmas market kills five people

23 Aug.2024: Syrian man kills three people in Solingen

30 Jun.2024: An Iranian is shot dead after he attacks federal police officers with a knife at a train station in Lauf an der Pegnitz.

Update (31 January 2025):

After the publication of this article, German media reported about several murders, which didn't invlove Afghan perpetrators:

On 28 January 2025 the media reported about a 23-year-old man from Guinea who has killed a 26 year old German man, who happened to be a member of the CDU, in mid-January with a knife. The same man from Guinea also severely injured a 52 year old Ukrainian woman with a knife.

On 30 January 2025 German media reported about the court case of a 36-year-old German man, called Max S., who has raped and killed a 21-year-old female jogger.

On 31 January 2025 German media reported about a 28-year-old German man, called Dominik S., who has killed his 20-year-old es-girlfriend.

Statistics

Various other knife attacks took place, many of which never found their ways into the media and most of them even stood unnoticed by the public, but not this time. Obviously because the perpetrator was an Afghan with mental illness his crime was politicized. Psychotropic drugs were found in his room. The police didn’t even consider that such a mentally ill person could as well have been manipulated through social media or personal contacts. On another note, in 2023 at least 214 people were murdered and most of them haven’t made it to the public.

Statista published a chart, which shows the registered murders in Germany of each year from 2013 to 2023:

More than two thousand people have been killed in that period in Germany. Why Afghan killers make it on top news has probably other reasons. We can say that German media, i.e. Bild, Zeit, Spiegel, Welt, etc. participated in the blame game through their sensationalism. Moreover, the comment sections of those papers were full of accusations against Afghan migrants.

Nevertheless, for some reasons, the news reached the highest political levels. Without explaining the mistakes, motives and the background of the attack, German politicians and media initiated an unprecedented propaganda campaign against Afghan migrants in Germany.

There are many suspicious points, which shall be discussed later. But first some background information about Afghans in Germany:

In 2015 with the so-called open border policy a migration crisis took place in Germany. In 2023 roughly 419,000 people, which makes 0.5 percent of Germany’s population, lived in Germany.

While before 2015 Afghan perpetrators of homicide/lethal knife attacks and other sorts of crimes were rather the exception, more and more people with Afghan background turned murderers after 2015 migration crisis. In 2015 about 131,455 people from Afghanistan were living in Germany.

Chart retrieved on 25 Jan. 2025

The problem here lies in the fact that Afghans with low educational qualifications entered Germany. The number of Afghans immigrating to Germany was proportional to that of migrants from other countries suffering from conflicts, i.e. Syria, Somalia etc. Nonetheless, Afghans were just one group of the criminals. Lethal crimes have happened many times by people of various national backgrounds, like Turks, Moroccans, Tunisians, Iranians, Syrians, Afghans etc.

But only Afghans became scapegoats for the mistakes of German politicians. They were used for propaganda purposes by both the ruling SPD party and SPD's far-right rivals AfD and CDU, which currently have more than 50% of votes combined. While Nancy Faeser, Germany's Interior Minister, promised not to deport criminal Syrians back to their homeland, she openly declared to negotiate with terrorists Taliban to deport Afghans to Afghanistan.
The first deportation of Afghans after the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban was on 30 August 2024, in which 28 Afghans were deported. This followed a knife attack on 31 May 2024 by a 25-year-old Afghan man in Mannheim, which resulted in the death of a policeman. The incident was fully recorded and footage went viral on social media. Ironically, Afghan insiders later stated that the Afghan attacker was in fact a Taliban sleeper agent to give the Taliban a diplomatic status outside of Afghanistan. The fact that the Afghan attacker chose an event, which was fully filmed just indicates that this incident was planned by a professional terrorist group. Also the way he handled the knife and fought against several policemen, indicated that he was a professional and well-trained terrorist. Nancy Faeser’s office ruthlessly negotiated with the Taliban via Qatar and finally the first official airplane from Germany landed in Afghanistan.

Decision of the German government following the 22 January 2025 attack

The German government announced on 24 Jan. 2025 that it will contact the Taliban regime to deport a number of Afghans back to their homeland. The number will probably be very low. But, in contrary to Syrians, who have an officially pro-Western Salafist government, which is the terrorist group HTS, Afghans have to return home. Although the Taliban are also sponsored by Arab Salafists, and the Western world prefers Salafists governments like Saudi-Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Turkey etc. over non-Salafist, they are not yet officially recognized by any country. Furthermore, the Taliban would lose any election in Afghanistan, as they are not a popular movement and most Afghans loathe its extremist ideology and behavior. Thus they have no legitimacy to be in Afghanistan in the first place, as they came to power through terrorism and force, let alone being in the position to lead negotiations with other countries.

Update (2 January 2025): On 29 January 2025 German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has reaffirmed what his Interior Minister Nancy Faeser had announced previously: "Scholz also announced further deportations to Afghanistan. "The next flight is being prepared," he said. "And we are also looking at developments in Syria. As soon as the situation allows, we will carry out deportations there as well.""

This is the double standards of the government of Chancellor Scholz, as stated before: Syrians are treated differently than Afghans. Concerning statistics about gang rapes in Germany, Syrians are on top and Afghans don't even occur in that statistics:

"According to the police, in 2023 in Bavaria, 45 of all suspects in gang rapes were German, 51 were foreigners: twelve Syrians, seven Romanians, four Iraqis, the others were spread across other countries."

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and British prime minister Keir Starmer

The reason why only Bavaria is mentioned is because the other states don't differentiate between nationalities, probably for political reasons.

German has a migration problem with its open-border policy. Afghans are just easy to take as punchbags for German's failed policy of open borders and the incompetence of some of Germany's politicians. German has announced worldwide that it needs labour, without being able to provide for people's housing and infrastructure. For instance, in 2024, the German Federal Employment Agency allowed at least 40,000 workers without recognized professional qualifications to come to Germany from abroad. It is the uncontrolled immigration upsets Germans, but the current German government believes it can win elections by blaming Afghans for their own mistakes.

Suspicious Timing

There’s another issue concerning the timing of the announcements by the German government. In the last week two drastic announcements were made. The first one was made by the US president Donald Trump. Trump stated on 20 January 2025: “If we’re going to pay billions of dollars a year, tell them we’re not going to give them the money unless they give back our military equipment. ... So, we will give them a couple of bucks; we want the military equipment back.”

Then came another very important announcement, which should have shaken up the world:

On 23 January 2025 ICC prosecutor Karim Khan said there were reasonable grounds to suspect Supreme Leader Haibatullah Akhundzada and chief justice Abdul Hakim Haqqani bore criminal responsibility for crimes against humanity on gender grounds.

There were two major statements by two powerful men. The supporters of the Taliban obviously got nervous. Also, people who followed politics knew before that Trump wouldn’t be as lenient towards the Taliban as Joe Biden.

Then came Norway’s and Austria’s hasty reactions in a move to perhaps sabotage any criminal prosecution of the Taliban, as they didn't want to lose time. They immediately announced that they had started negotiating with the Taliban. This announcement was published on 24 January 2025, prior to the announcement by the German government. This is not surprising, as Norway has a history of friendship with the Taliban due to a big number of pro-Taliban Pashtun diaspora living in Norway. Norway received the first high-ranking delegation of terrorist Taliban leaders in Norway on January 2022. (Imagine that a group of Hamas or Hezbollah leaders arrive in Oslo for official talks.)

The following handout photograph released by the Afghan Taliban and taken on Jan. 22, 2022 shows Taliban senior official member Anas Haqqani, right, and delegates sitting on a plane before departing to Oslo:

The reason behind this might be that similar to Norway there’s a huge Pashtun diaspora in Germany, who are lobbying for the Taliban behind closed doors. They are in some influential positions in politics and media (like the Deutsche Welle, which mostly writes in favor of the Taliban). Pashtun nationalists seem to be with the recent developments, as their main slogan is that Afghanistan belongs to Pashtuns only and other ethnicities must leave Afghanistan or get killed. They even opt for resentments against Afghans in exile, if that preserves their profit through a racist and extremist regime in Afghanistan, which oppresses their rivals.

Taliban representatives in Germany

On 16 September 2024 German magazine Focus published an interview with Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen, in which he confessed that European officials were in contact with the Taliban:

Shams Ul Haq: The German government has officially stated that it does not want to establish relations with the Taliban. What is your position on this?

Shahin: That is not correct. We have met unofficially with representatives of the German government and the representatives of many European countries. These talks are necessary, and they are taking place, even if they are not official. There are also some German NGOs working in Afghanistan. There are issues that we need to clarify, and this happens in these contacts. It is not regular but talks take place every now and then.

Although the Taliban spokesman doesn't give details on the contents of the talks, he confirms that there have been several hidden talks with Western officials and politicians. It is very clear that European countries don't take such steps without the approval of the USA. Meanwhile there are reliable reports, which confirm Taliban's cooperation with several terrorist groups, including al-Qaeda and probably ISIS.

Suhail Shaheen is a fraudster known for his deception, in which he declared general amnesty towards all Afghans. Later this claim turned out wrong, as hundreds of former Afghan soldiers were executed by the Taliban.

Germany also hosted a meeting of the high-ranking Taliban leader Abdul-Bari Omar, where he delivered a long speech in November 2023:

He traveled to Germany via the Netherlands, which invited the Taliban to join a conference (the Netherlands obviously has also direct wires to Taliban leaders). Although German officials claimed that the Taliban minister traveled to Germany without their permission, it seems to be very unlikely that such a high-ranking Taliban member with his entourage crosses borders without being noticed by the police. Moreover, Ralf Stegner of the SPD party announced months before that meeting that Germany would host Taliban meetings.

But there is evidence of other contact channels between Germany and  the Taliban. It is a well-known fact, which was also published by German newspaper Merkur, that the diplomats of the Afghan consulate in Munich are pro-Taliban.

Merkur writes on 13 October 2024: “Taliban center in the middle of Munich? Consulate probably has a special friendship with terror regime” (German original: “Zentrum der Taliban mitten in München? Konsulat pflegt wohl besondere Freundschaft zu Terrorregime“). Afghanistan's consulate in Munich is staffed by pro-Taliban Afghans and is therefore an outpost of the Taliban in Europe. It is a threat to all anti-Taliban Afghans who fled Afghanistan and want to live in freedom and peace.

Merkur adds: "The Taliban have deactivated almost all Afghan representations in Europe - except for the one in Munich. The work of the Consulate General in Grünwald seems to be particularly well received by the terrorists." (German original: “Die Taliban haben fast alle afghanischen Vertretungen in Europa lahmgelegt – außer die in München. Die Arbeit des Generalkonsulat in Grünwald scheint bei den Terroristen besonders gut anzukommen.“)

Afghans in Germany are victims of both the Taliban and German politicians. In fact Germany is not a safe haven for Afghans against Taliban terrorists, anymore.

On 20 September 2023 Afghan anti-Taliban activist and writer Dawood Siawash was found dead in the river Pegnitz in Fürth, not far from the consulate in Munich.

His son, famous Afghan journalist and critic of the Taliban and former Afghan president Ashraf Ghani, Yama Siawash, was killed on 7 November 2020 in a terrorist attack.

The Siawash family is from Kapisa Province and unlike the Taliban and former Pashtun presidents Hamid Karzai and Ashraf Ghani they are of Tajik ethnicity. According to some experts the attack was probably a cooperation between Taliban and government officials. Siawash had a bachelor's degree in law and political science. He spent almost a decade working as a journalist in Afghanistan and was one of Tolo TV's most prominent presenters before starting work as a public relations adviser for the CentralBank of Afghanistan. It is said that he began investigating high amount of money influxes to and money effluxes from the Central Bank of Afghanistan. He had to use a company car to drive to work, which later mysteriously exploded and killed Siawash.

The diplomat published an article on 17 November 2020 discussing the Afghan government's contempt for Afghan journalists and free press. The article was titled "The Taliban Don’t Care About a Free Press. Neither Does the Afghan Government".

It seems that Germany tries to follow in the footsteps of the USA in interfering in favor of the Taliban. It exploits crimes commited by Afghans and uses them as a pretext in giving legitimacy to the Taliban by negotiating with the leaders of that terrorist group.
