Taliban Are Responsible For Attack On Shia Worshippers In Baghlan

The latest reports indicate that the number of killed by an explosion on 13 October 2023, in the Imam Zaman Mosque in the city of Pul Khumri, the capital of Baghlan, has increased to 30 people. All of them were Shia worshippers. Local Sources told the Daily News newspaper that also 40 people were injured in that explosion, and some of the wounded were taken to the Kunduz provincial hospital due to their deteriorating health condition.

A video by a Pashto speaking man, probably a Taliban official, has been published on social media and shows the aftermath of the bloody incident:

According to local sources, a large number of the victims of this explosion are young people who went to Imam Zaman Mosque to perform Friday prayers. The Taliban security command in Baghlan announced the death toll of the explosion at seven people and the number of wounded at 15 people. Although this number was declared wrong by local residents, Taliban officials in Baghlan have not published any other statistics of the casualties of this explosion and deny the increase in the number of victims.

On October 13, 2023 around 1:30 in the afternoon, an explosion occurred in the Imam Zaman Mosque located on the first Silavi road in Pul Khomri city. The explosion occurred when dozens of local residents had come to this mosque for Friday prayers.

According to the report of the New York Times, ISIS claimed responsibility for the explosion and claimed that it was a suicide bomber. This explosion has been met with widespread reactions.

In response to this attack, the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan has considered the Taliban's claim of providing national security as "false". This group has written that "on the one hand, this terrorist group neglects our people by falsely claiming to provide national security, and on the other hand, by providing a safe and appropriate umbrella for regional and international terrorist groups, it is a collaborator and partner in crime. And in this way, our people and country have been exposed to potential and actual threats."

After yesterday's deadly attack in the Imam Zaman Mosque in Pul Khumri, one of the citizens of Afghanistan, referring to the Taliban's claim of national security and sharing a photo of this mosque covered in blood, wrote, "Is this the meaning of national security? All this bloodshed, these corpses, do they mean national security?"

Another Facebook user also wrote that "Taliban's claim of national security is nothing more than a lie." This group has turned Afghanistan into a nest of terrorists, and the massacre of Hazara and Shiite people in Baghlan is proof of this claim.

There have already been previous warnings about Taliban's affiliation with international terrorist groups by experts:
